What is it?

The  José Valdés Math Institute is the most intensive Mathematics experience of your life! It is a summer Mathematics intervention program targeting students in grades 6 through 9 that has dramatically changed the lives of so many of its participants. Valdés students study and learn all Math all day all summer. Valdés teachers represent all K-12 educational levels- elementary, middle, and high school and work hard to prepare students for success in Math. With the classroom support of two college teaching assistants, the Valdés classroom becomes one of the most exciting places to be each summer!

Project Goals

There are four broad project goals for the José Valdés Math Institute, each with a series of objectives that will guide the direction of the entire project. The goals of the project are multi-faceted and are directed at all participants of the project: students, teachers, administrators, schools, school districts and the greater community.

The goals of the José Valdés Math Institute are summarized below.
1. Provide all students an opportunity for success in Mathematics.
2. Strengthen Mathematics teaching practices.
3. Develop future Mathematics teachers.
4. Establish a Mathematics community of practice.
